History of Cabo San Lucas

Written by John on January 26th, 2009

It is believed that humans first came to the southern end of the Baja California peninsula 14,000 years ago.  When the first Europeans arrived, the Pericu were there, living a subsistence diet.  A fishing village began to develop there in the early 20th century.  The warm waters, beautiful beaches and abundant sport fish motivated Mexican and foreign tourists to vacation there, especially after the Mexican government created the infrastructure for tourist development in the 1970s.
